President Droupadi Murmu has said that the training of foreign nationals at the Dehradun-based Indian Military Academy (IMA) reflects India’s commitment to fostering friendly relations with countries across the world. She said that foreign officer cadets graduating from the IMA would serve as ambassadors of geopolitical peace and stability.
Addressing the Spring Term Passing Out Parade (POP) 2026 at the IMA on Saturday, President Murmu told the 34 foreign officer cadets participating in the parade, “I am happy to note that officer cadets from 29 foreign countries are presently undergoing training at the IMA. The presence of foreign cadets here represents India’s commitment to fostering friendship, cooperation and peaceful relations with countries across the world.”

She added, “Cadets here develop mutual trust and professional bonds that play an important role in strengthening defence cooperation among nations.”
Expressing confidence in the capabilities of the foreign cadets graduating from the academy, the President said they would emerge as significant contributors to geopolitical stability and global peace.
“I am confident that, with the strength of the values and training they receive here, they will contribute to regional stability and global peace,” she said.
Highlighting the IMA’s long-standing tradition of training cadets from friendly foreign nations, President Murmu said that the practice reflects India’s commitment to maintaining friendly and cooperative relations with the international community.
Addressing the foreign cadets, she said, “Your countries have entrusted us with the responsibility of training you to the highest standards of military professionalism. I am confident that you will bring laurels to your armed forces and your nations through the service, leadership and values you have imbibed here.”
The President expressed her satisfaction over the academy’s role in nurturing future military leaders from across the world and strengthening international goodwill through defence cooperation.
